Yes. Group medical insurance policies covers for COVID-19 treatment, provided the treatment is taken during hospitalisation. The person need to be admitted in a hospital and should have been tested positive for Coronavirus. Group medical insurance policy covers for COVID-19 treatment from day 1 of the policy without any waiting period.
In fact all health insurance policies have covered for Coronavirus claims ever since the breakout of the virus. In the first 6 months of the current FY 2022, insurance companies cumulatively have settled 14 Lac claims worth over INR 12,000 crore. In the last financial year, FY 2021 they have settled close to 9 Lac claims amounting to INR 8,000 crore.
