And 9 month waiting for maternity – what that means – Maternity charges are a part of over all sum insured – Range of Maternity charges across hospitals and across geographies. Maternity Charges vary in case of Normal or in case of C Section; For Metro City – Costs can be higher- However no such classification is a standard feature across Insurance Policies.

How are the policies different wrt Coverage in different Policies: In retail policies – where maternity is covered. Maternity is normally not covered with a waiting period of 9 months and Claim from Day1 is not possible. Some Policies have a 3 year waiting period or lesser. The logic is that from the Date on inception of the Policy – Marernity coveragenis not possible and therefore varoes from policy to policy. 9 month waiting period means – if there is a claim in this period it will not be covered. However for Group Insurance – wherer we pay extra premium of extra loading – this 9 month waiting period is waived off – then only claims are possible.

Range of Maternity charges across hospitals and across geographies: For Retail – where waiting period is mentioned – it is mentioned therein that it is within the SI or it is with a Capping. For Group Poicies 0 an mount as the upper limit is mentioned in each policy and this cost is within the SI and is capped.
